TTO Welcomes Adrian Budhu

“It feels good to be home.”

Adrian Budhu, Interim Executive Director

Dear TTO Family,

While we continue our national search for a new Executive Director for TTO, we’re thrilled to welcome Adrian Budhu back to lead our team as Interim Executive Director! Those of you who have been longtime members of our family will remember Adrian from his time as TTO Managing Director, and we hope that you’ll join us in extending him a warm welcome home!

Dear Friends,

It feels good to be home. For those who don't know me, I served as managing director from 2011 to 2016 alongside Founding Artistic Director Abe Rybeck and Director of Programs Evelyn Francis. I also made Boston my home for over 19 years before moving to NYC to take on the role of Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer of Theatre Communications Group, the national service organization for theater. I then spent a year in Dallas, and I now call Salt Lake City my home with my partner Chris.

Today, I'm back to serve as TTO's interim Executive Director as the TTO Board of Directors search for the next permanent leader of the organization. During the next few months, I'll be working with staff and Board to carry on the work of TTO: empowering queer youth in True Colors, fostering the growth of our new cohort of Queer (Re)Public Resident Artists, and continuing our Capital Campaign to build our first permanent home. After the summer months, I'll be in touch to fill you in about all the exciting happenings at TTO.

I am so proud of the theater that I once called home. I'm grateful for the learnings and mentorship that I received from my former colleagues Abe and Evelyn, as well as the staff, community members, and most importantly, the youth of True Colors. They introduced me to a field that has made an indelible impact on me. It may sound like a cliche, but theater really did change my life. TTO’s value of INSPIRING OUTNESS! has helped shape my identity and my place in the world. TTO’s work has heightened my awareness of my privileges and my responsibility to advocate for a better, more connected world.

I am so excited to work with and learn from the staff, board, and community and help TTO through this transition.

Thank you for your support and fierce dedication to The Theater Offensive.

With lots of love,

Adrian
